About the assessment

About the Optiver NumberLogic assessment

Optiver NumberLogic is a numerical-sequence assessment in which you infer the rule behind a series and choose the next value. The full practice mode on this page contains 26 questions in 25 minutes, with the sequences increasing in difficulty and abstractness.

The useful skill is not memorising a catalogue of patterns. Strong performance comes from testing simple transformations first, recognising when several operations are interacting, and abandoning an unproductive hypothesis quickly. The Easy, Medium and Hard modes let you train that progression before returning to the full test.

What you are training

Skills this practice is designed to build

Pattern recognition

Identify useful relationships between consecutive terms without overfitting the first pattern you notice.

Arithmetic flexibility

Move comfortably between differences, ratios, alternating rules and multi-step transformations.

Hypothesis testing

Check a candidate rule against the entire sequence before committing to an answer.

Time allocation

Know when to move on from an opaque sequence and protect time for solvable questions.

How to prepare

Use the tool deliberately

  1. 1

    Start with Easy Mode

Make the common sequence families automatic before introducing highly abstract patterns.

  2. 2

    Describe the rule explicitly

After solving a sequence, state the transformation in words. This exposes lucky guesses and weak reasoning.

  3. 3

    Move through Medium and Hard

Increase difficulty only when simple patterns are consistently fast and accurate.

  4. 4

    Finish with the 26-question mode

Use the full test to practise pacing across a sequence set that becomes harder over time.

FAQ

Optiver NumberLogic questions

What is the Optiver NumberLogic assessment?

It is a numerical-sequence test. On this page, the full practice mode presents 26 sequence questions to solve in 25 minutes.

What kinds of sequences should I practise?

Practise straightforward arithmetic relationships first, then alternating and multi-step rules, prime/Fibonacci-style structures and more abstract combinations.

How should I use the difficulty modes?

Use Easy Mode to remove basic pattern-recognition errors, Medium Mode for mixed reasoning, Hard Mode for abstract sequences, then validate your pacing in the full test.

Is this an official Optiver NumberLogic test?

No. EverythingQuant is independent of Optiver. The tool is a preparation resource designed around the numerical-sequence format described here.
