About the assessment

About the Optiver Technology OA

Optiver's technology knowledge assessment is a 20-question, 20-minute multiple-choice screen. The difficulty comes from breadth: you need to recognise computer-science concepts quickly rather than spend several minutes deriving every answer from first principles.

EverythingQuant's practice tool is designed around that rapid conceptual style. Use it to identify weak areas across networking, systems and architecture, security, programming concepts and other technology fundamentals, then review those areas before returning to another timed attempt.

What you are training

Skills this practice is designed to build

Systems knowledge

Recognise common system-design and architecture concepts without needing a long derivation.

Networking

Be comfortable with the purpose and trade-offs of core networking concepts and protocols.

Security & coding concepts

Recall foundational security, language and programming ideas quickly and precisely.

Breadth under time pressure

Switch topics cleanly and avoid spending too much time on one unfamiliar concept.

How to prepare

Use the tool deliberately

  1. 1

    Map your weak domains

Use an initial attempt to determine whether your misses cluster around networking, systems, security or programming fundamentals.

  2. 2

    Review concepts, not answers

Learn why each option is right or wrong so a differently worded question does not expose the same gap.

  3. 3

    Practise rapid recall

Once a topic is understood, answer short conceptual prompts under a strict per-question time budget.

  4. 4

    Retest across the full mix

Finish with mixed timed attempts so topic switching becomes normal before the real screen.

FAQ

Optiver Technology OA questions

What does the Optiver Technology OA test?

The practice format focuses on broad computer-science knowledge, including networking, system design and architecture, security and general programming concepts.

How much time is there per question?

The 20-question, 20-minute format averages one minute per question, so fast recognition matters as much as deep knowledge.

How should I prepare for a broad technology test?

Start with a diagnostic attempt, group mistakes by topic, review the concepts behind those mistakes, then return to mixed timed practice.

Is this an official Optiver assessment?

No. EverythingQuant is an independent preparation platform and is not affiliated with Optiver. The tool is intended to practise the relevant format and concepts.
