About the assessment
Citadel's cognitive ability screen is extremely time-compressed: the practice format on this page gives you 12 minutes for 50 multiple-choice questions. The question mix spans arithmetic, problem solving, pattern recognition and language, which means performance depends on fast switching as much as any single technical topic.
EverythingQuant's tool is built to reproduce that rapid mixed-question environment. Use repeated attempts to make straightforward items nearly automatic, then review the categories where you either hesitate or make avoidable errors. The objective is to preserve accuracy while keeping enough pace to see a large portion of the test.
EverythingQuant is an independent preparation platform. This practice tool is not an official Citadel assessment and does not guarantee an interview outcome.
What you are training
Make basic calculations and numerical comparisons with minimal working.
Identify relationships quickly without spending too long validating an overcomplicated rule.
Move between numerical, logical and language prompts without carrying the previous question's approach into the next.
Treat time as a scarce resource and avoid allowing one difficult item to consume several easier opportunities.
How to prepare
Record which categories create hesitation rather than judging yourself only by the total score.
Drill arithmetic and common pattern types until routine questions require very little deliberate processing.
Mix question categories during practice instead of completing long blocks of only one type.
Finish by practising the actual pacing problem: maintaining useful accuracy across 50 rapid questions.
Keep preparing
See the OA alongside Citadel-specific interview questions and preparation resources.
Continue from the cognitive screen into firm-specific quantitative interview practice.
Understand how the cognitive ability test fits into the wider quantitative-trader process.
FAQ
This practice tool uses a 50-question, 12-minute multiple-choice format covering arithmetic, problem solving, pattern recognition and language questions.
The format averages well under 20 seconds per question, so the practical skill is moving rapidly through straightforward items and not getting trapped on one difficult prompt.
Start with the category producing the most hesitation or avoidable errors, then return to mixed timed attempts so you can practise switching between question types.
