What are the main types of quant roles and what do they actually do? I know there's traders, researchers, and software engineers, but I'd imagine there would be a whole lot more.

Here are a few (but definitely not all): - Trader: Traders develop and execute trading strategies using mathematical models and algorithms - Researcher: Researchers do deep research into existing models or new trends, usually requires a strong math/stats ability. - SWE: Pretty self-explanatory, software engineers maintain, develop, and design software for trading platforms, APIs, data processing, etc. - Hardware Engineer: Maintains physical infrastructure (FPGAs, accelerators) required for HFT
